The company’s key export offering is surimi cryoprotectants, a product used to protect surimi products from freezing damage. Pacific Blends’ custom dry-blended solutions are helping a growing number of surimi processing operations to be more efficient and profitable. They have become one of the largest manufacturers of surimi cryoprotectants in the world, providing cryoprotectant products to nearly all of the factory fishing vessels fishing for Alaskan Pollock in the Bering Sea. Due to its proximity to a major sugar refinery, its location near two container ports, and its dedication to customer service, Pacific Blends has grown to become a key partner to this industry.

Pacific Blends is committed to product safety. Their processing facility is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level II certified, and is also a Canadian Food Inspection Agency-registered dairy processing facility, allowing them to export dairy products across the globe. Additionally, Pacific Blends is certified by Kosher Check, a non-profit global Kosher certification agency headquartered in Vancouver. Pacific Blends personnel ensure that Letters of Certification for all ingredients are current and liaise with Kosher inspectors during regular visits.

Established in 2002 in Port Coquitlam, Pacific Blends is a family owned-and-operated business that serves the broad range of food manufacturers in western Canada. They established a presence in the surimi industry in 2005 when they started to export cryoprotectants to a factory fishing fleet based in Seattle. During the intervening years the company’s products have been exported all over the world, to areas such as France, Korea, Argentina and the Faroe Islands.
