Mackenzie Timber Supply Area

Last updated on June 15, 2026

The Mackenzie Timber Supply Area (TSA) is British Columbia’s fourth largest, covering 6.41 million hectares in B.C.’s northeast. One of three TSAs in the Omineca Region, it is administered from the Mackenzie Natural Resource District office in the district municipality of Mackenzie.

Most of the population within the TSA lives in Mackenzie. Smaller settlements include Germansen Landing, Manson Creek, Tsay Keh and Kwadacha.

Current Allowable Annual Cut (AAC)

Effective June 20, 2024, the AAC for the Mackenzie TSA is 2,321,476 cubic metres, of which a maximum of 1.17 million cubic metres may be harvested in the southwestern partition zone.

A major expansion of Klinse-za Park, located west of Chetwynd and Hudson’s Hope in northeastern B.C., will better protect sacred sites and wildlife habitat, and contribute to the goal of protecting 30% of lands in B.C. by 2030.

The expanded Klinse-za/Twin Sisters Park (pronounced Klin-see’-za) will protect nearly 200,000 hectares of land, including two mountains known locally as the Twin Sisters, which are an area of cultural and spiritual significance for Treaty 8 First Nations.
