Highway 97 - Racing Road and Quesnel-Hydraulic Road intersection improvements

This project consists of widening approximately 1.1km of Highway 97 and intersection improvements at Racing Road and Quesnel-Hydraulic Road.

The project will include: 

  • Signalization of the intersection at Racing Road
  • Improved movements at Quesnel-Hydraulic Road
  • Improved drainage
  • New lighting
  • A new centre median island and proper deceleration lanes at both intersections to improve safety and movement

Project Cost

  • $7.7M federal contribution
  • $11.3M provincial contribution

Status

Fall 2021:

  • Mobilized to site
  • Clearing and grubbing started
  • Drainage channel works started
  • Municipal services works started

  • Traffic management
  • Continue drainage works
  • Continue municipal works

Summer 2022

  • Traffic management
  • Highway construction and paving
  • Sideroad construction and paving

Fall 2022

  • Traffic management

  • Improving safety along the Highway 97 corridor
  • Improving mobility along Highway 97 and access to and from the frontage roads
