This project will improve drainage and pavement conditions along Main Street between Mountain Highway and the new Phibbs Transit exchange in North Vancouver.

The project will involve:

  • Asphalt resurfacing and line painting the intersection of Main Street and Mountain Highway
  • Addressing long standing drainage concerns through installation of a new storm sewer along the south side of Main Street

Project cost

$5.1 million fully funded by the Province of British Columbia.

Status

The project was awarded to BA Blacktop Infrastructure Inc. and construction got underway on August 12, 2024.

The project is approximately 70% complete with work to date focusing on critical safety upgrades to improve drainage, including 700 meters of new storm system that ties into the new Phibbs Transit Exchange drainage infrastructure. This work also includes decommissioning a 1200 mm diameter culvert that is at the end of its service life.

Drainage upgrades were completed in early October 2024. Remaining road rehabilitation work is scheduled for Summer 2025 and will take place at night. After further consultation with project stakeholders regarding the proposed line marking changes, the project will reinstate the existing line marking and lane assignments. The project is expected to complete late summer 2025.
