Summary: Salmon Lake change to hook requirement

Status: Proposed

Region: 3, Thompson

Management unit (MU): 3-12

Regulation type: Method/Gear/Bait

Species: Rainbow trout

Closing date: January 17, 2025

Decision statement: Pending

Current regulation:

  • No Ice Fishing
  • Rainbow trout daily quota is 2
  • Artificial fly only
  • Bait ban
  • Single barbless hook

Proposed regulation:

  • No Ice Fishing
  • Rainbow trout daily quota is 2
  • Artificial fly only

Rationale:

Consistent with regional direction to move from single barbless hooks to single hooks on small, stocked lakes. Removing bait ban because it is already captured under artificial fly only regulation.
