  • greater than/less than ( >  or  < )
  • vertical pipe ( | )
Navigation title

The navigation title field is a mandatory field. It is displayed in the left navigation of the web browser.

Page path

The page path is a mandatory field. It forms the human readable URL (HRU) which is displayed in a web browser.

  • When a new page is created, or an existing page is cloned, the Nav Title will default to "new-page-x" or "existing-page-title-clone-x", where x is a unique integer that will automatically increment by one.
  • Once you have updated the Nav Title field, copy the Nav Title value into the Page Path field.
  • When the [Save] action is selected, system validation will ensure the value is unique and usable in the URL’s browser location bar.
  • Only alpha-characters, numbers and dashes (a-z, 0-9, -) are valid characters.
    • All others (e.g.: à, ç,  &, ., _, ) will be replaced with a - (dash)
    • All capital alpha-characters will be replaced with lowercase.

The Page Path can be used to shorten the HRU. For example:

  • Before: www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education/kindergarten-to-grade-12/teach/training-and-professional-development/become-a-teacher-in-a-b-c-offshore-school/
  • After: www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education/k-12/teach/training/offshore/

If you have updated a Page Path field after the page has been published, republish the page to reflect the new HRU.
