Beneficial Management Practices Program

The BMP program provides cost-share funding to producers to cover equipment purchases, energy/greenhouse gases projects, irrigation projects, construction projects, riparian projects and water projects, and more.

Upon completion of an environmental farm plan, project funding to increase your agricultural sustainability and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment may be available through the BMP. 

Eligible activities

Eligible projects include:

• Air quality control
• Emissions control
• Environmental impacts
• Soil and riparian integrity
• Waste management
• Water quality

Eligibility criteria apply and the type and nature of practices available for incentive funding is subject to annual review.

Eligible applicants

B.C. farm and ranch businesses with a goods and services tax (GST) number that have an approved and valid environmental farm plan within the last five years and that reflects current farming operations.

Fraser Valley flood mitigation

The Fraser Valley Flood (FVF) mitigation program continues to provide BMP funding to agricultural producers. This means that if you are eligible for FVF funding (producing in the Fraser Valley), BMP practices that are covered in the FVF program (see below) will automatically be increased to a 90 percent cost-shared ratio.

The Fraser Valley Flood BMPs are those that are eligible for up to 90 percent cost-share under these categories and practice codes:

• Riparian and grazing multiple practices
• Biodiversity habitat structures and enhancement
• Nutrient and waste management improved liquid manure storage facilities, assessment and monitoring of existing manure storages
• Soil carbon improved drainage
• Energy and fuel efficiency creative environmental regenerative agriculture solutions

New for 2024/25:

• Up to $100,000 is available for improved liquid manure storage facilities for all regions
• For the 24-25 BMP Intake there is no farm spending cap. A per-farm cap may be reinstated in program years
