The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Program (KTTP) helps organizations deliver training and learning activities for agricultural producers and food processors in British Columbia. 

The Program is open for applications.

Funding is limited and complete applications will be reviewed on a firstcome, firstserved basis.

The Program supports activities that build skills, share knowledge, and help producers and processors adopt best practices, respond to emerging challenges, and remain competitive in changing environmental, production, and market conditions.

Funding for the Program is provided in part by the governments of Canada and British Columbia through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. 

Key dates 

  • Applications open: March 4, 2026 
  • Activity window: April 1, 2026 – February 28, 2027 
  • Claim deadline: Within 30 days of the final activity 
  • Final claim cutoff: March 5, 2027 
  • Record retention: Keep all documents until March 31, 2033 

Who can apply 

Eligible organizations 

You can apply if you are a: 

  • Nonprofit or industry association that supports B.C. agriculture or food processing 
  • Farmers’ institute or women’s institute 
  • Municipality or regional district 
  • Indigenous government, community, organization, or economic development corporation 

Ineligible organizations

You cannot apply if you are: 

  • An individual farmer or individual processor 
  • A private business or for-profit company
  • A private training or educational institution 
  • A K-12 school or school district 

Funding 

  • Up to 75% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $7,500 per application 
  • The applicant organization must contribute at least 25% of eligible costs (cash or in-kind) 
  • The same organization may submit up to three applications per intake, to a maximum of $15,000 total funding requested from the Program 

Eligible activity types 

Activities must fit one of these types: 

  • Subject matter expert talk (speaker costs capped at $1,500 per expert) 
  • Farm or facility tour 
  • Field day or demonstration 
  • Field trial or research day 
  • Hands-on workshop 
  • Short course 
  • Webinars 

Participation requirement 

Each activity must involve at least 10 B.C. agricultural producers (Farm Class Status or equivalent) or established B.C. food processors. Activities aimed mainly at the general public, recreational growers, or youth under 19 are not eligible. 

Eligible costs 

The Program can cover: 

  • Speaker costs (speaker fees, travel, accommodation, honoraria) 
  • Facility, equipment, or transportation costs 
  • Advertising and communication costs 
  • Accessibility costs  
  • Administration costs  

Ineligible costs 

The Program does not cover: 

  • Food and beverage for participants (catering) 
  • Curriculum development

Before you apply

  2. Create an account: You'll need a Basic BCeID  or Business BCeID to apply. This free account allows you to securely access, save, and submit your application online

How to apply 

1. Confirm eligibility 

Make sure: 

  • Your organization is eligible 
  • Your activity is addressing a relevant need for the sector 
  • Your activity will occur between April 1, 2026 and February 28, 2027 
  • Your activity will be attended by at least 10 established producers or processors 
  • Your activity is an eligible activity delivered by qualified subject matter experts with relevant expertise 

2. Gather required information 

Prepare: 

  • Organization details 
  • Activity title, description, location, dates, topic area, and expected participants 
  • Subject matter expert details (name, email, credentials, experience) 
  • A clear budget containing only eligible costs and your organization’s 25% cost-share
  • Draft agenda; you can use the KTTP draft agenda template (DOCX, 173 KB)

All applications must be completed and submitted through the application portal in the Program webpage linked below. 

3. Apply online 

  • Submit your application through the Program webpage. You will need a BC Services Card or BCeID to sign in
  • For the best experience, please fill out the application on a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. It may not work properly on a mobile phone
  • Note that the application form automatically times out if the browser tab remains open for more than 10 hours, so save drafts frequently to avoid losing work

4. Wait for review 

  • Complete applications are reviewed first-come, first-served; approval is not guaranteed
  • Applicants will be notified within four to six weeks of submission of a completed application
  • Some priority may be given to organizations serving underrepresented groups

5. Receive a decision 

You will receive either: 

  • An approval letter with an approval package, or 
  • A decline letter 

After you apply 

If you are approved, you must follow all Program requirements to receive reimbursement. 

Before the event 

  • Include required logos and funding statements in all promotional materials 
  • Send promotional materials to knowledge.transfer@gov.bc.ca for approval before publishing 
  • Inform the ministry of any changes to dates, locations, speakers, budget, or event scope. You must get written approval from the ministry for any changes, otherwise your reimbursement claim may be declined

During the event 

  • Deliver the activity as approved in the approval letter 
  • Allow ministry staff to attend for free if requested 
  • Take 1–3 photos of the event (with participant consent) 
  • Share the required post-event survey link or QR code with participants 

After the event 

Submit your claim: 

  • Within 30 days after the last activity 
  • No later than March 5, 2027; claims received after this date will not be reimbursed 

Claims must include: 

  • Number of participants and number of B.C. producers/processors 
  • Confirmation that the post-event survey was shared 
  • List of eligible costs 
  • Details of your 25% cost-share 
  • Photos and promotional materials 
  • Income and expense statement if you charged admission 

You must keep all receipts and records until March 31, 2033. 

About the 2025-26 intake 

Applications opened on March 19, 2025 (first come, first served) for activities between April 16, 2025, to March 1, 2026. The 2025-26 intake closed on December 19, 2025.  

All reimbursement claims must be received by March 6, 2026. 

KTTP is a cost-shared program designed to support B.C.’s producers and processors in adapting to changing environmental, production, and market conditions. Download and review the 2025 Program Guide (PDF, 506 KB)

The Program helps drive innovation and long-term behavior change to strengthen B.C.’s agriculture and food sector by funding events and activities that foster practical knowledge and skill development. 

Organizations were able to receive up to 75 percent in cost shared funding for eligible activities, including expert-led sessions, hands-on training, and on-farm demonstrations.  

Reimbursement 

All reimbursement claims must be received by March 6, 2026Late submissions will not be accepted. Applications will be considered cancelled if the claim is not received by the deadline. 

There is some flexibility between the approved budget and actual expenses claimed:  

  • Ensure all expenses are eligible costs based on the program guide (PDF, 613 KB)
  • Ensure the overall budget stays the same
  • Small changes/re-allocations are acceptable

How to submit a reimbursement claim 

  • Sign in to PODS Applicant Portal with the same BCeID used for your application 
  • Go to “My Claims” and find your application
  • Click on the arrow to the right and select “Edit/Submit”

Technical difficulties 

Application form session timeout

The application form automatically times out if the browser tab remains open for more than 10 hours, so save drafts frequently to avoid losing work.

If your session expires, you may notice:

  • Saving a draft never finishes and shows a red error message
  • Submitting the form shows a spinning animation and a red error message
  • File uploads fail

How to fix it:

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and save a PDF copy of your form
  2. Open a new private window on your browser (e.g., Chrome Incognito window)
  3. Log back in to the application form
  4. Reopen your previously saved draft (if available) and continue
  5. If a draft is not available, copy-paste the information from the saved PDF copy of your form into a new application form
