Soda Creek-MacAlister Road is located approximately 45 km north of Williams Lake.
Following a comprehensive, technically driven process that began in late 2020, the Ministry has completed safety works in the Soda Creek–MacAlister Road Project area, allowing the road to reopen safely. The work included clearing, drainage improvements, excavation and embankment construction, installation of fencing, regrading the road and hydroseeding the slopes to help stabilize the soil.

The road was regraded in late 2024. Additional construction began in September 2025 and was completed in December 2025.

A geotechnical drilling program was carried out in the Soda Creek-MacAlister Road Project area. Crews used a drill rig to create a test hole in the ground to collect soil and water samples.
March 2022
A program-wide engagement period was held to introduce the public to the projects, providing context and an overview of the background, process, and short-listed options being explored.
February 2022
Door-to-door engagement to inform residents about the project and potential options under consideration. Residents had the opportunity to provide feedback and considerations to the project team, and a two-page information sheet about the project was distributed during this engagement.
November 2021
An in-person drop-in session at Kersley Hall was held to provide updates on the Soda Creek-MacAlister Road Project.
March 2020
A landslide occurred on Soda Creek-MacAlister Road, impacting the stability and safety for road users.
The existing road moved 8 to 10 m vertically and 25 to 30 m horizontally, leading to its closure.

As a part of ongoing project planning, a second geotechnical drilling program will begin in late September 2023. Crews will be using a drill rig to bore a test hole into the ground in the Soda Creek-MacAlister Road Project area to collect soil and water samples. This work is expected to conclude in the fall.
