PAT recommendation to the BCTC The teacher education program at TRU conditionally meets the TEP Approval Standards
BCTC decision

The BCTC confirms that the teacher education program at TRU meets the TEP Approval Standards with conditions. Recommendation approved February 6, 2025.

To meet the conditions, TRU’s program must:

  • Maintain autonomy over admissions of applicants, despite any partnerships with external organizations
  • Update their program design, development and delivery. This includes providing teacher candidates access to detailed course syllabus, developing meaningful Indigenized practices across all courses, and ensuring anti-racism, equity and social justice content exists in learning outcomes and course assignments
  • Align internal and external quality assurance structures and processes

TRU must tell the BCTC when each condition has been met. The BCTC will not remove the conditional approval until it decides that all conditions have been met or no longer needed.
