Windset Farms is one of North America’s largest growers and marketers of greenhouse produce.
The company offers a wide range of proprietary vegetable varieties that have trademarked names for differentiation and memorability at retail, in packaging that maximizes shelf-life and increases sales, including: tomatoes branded as Allegro (sweet tomatoes packaged on the vine), Concerto (gold and red grape tomatoes), and Virtuoso (beefsteak tomatoes); mild to wild bell pepper products, such as Bravo (green bell pepper), Dolce (super sweet mini peppers), and Maestro (sweet bell peppers); as well as various Cucumber, Lettuce, Eggplant and Strawberry products.
All products are non-GMO verified and grown sustainably and safely in controlled greenhouses, with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems in place to ensure safety, as well as certification with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and B.C. Greenhouse Growers Association. Windset Farms also engages in further food safety procedures such as Bio-Terrorism and Plant Security, Allergen Assessment and Microbiological Testing compliance.
Windset Farms is a family-farm that began as a four-acre bell pepper farm in Abbotsford in 1995. Brothers John and Steven Newell founded the company and were the first to plant, grow, pick and pack their first shipment of peppers. Since then the company has grown into an international operation. The company maintains its commitment to sustainability through various means, including use of an Integrated Pest Management system instead of pesticides, water recirculation and dripper systems in their greenhouses, and reusing the carbon dioxide from their natural gas boilers in the growing process. Windset Farms is also highly active in the community, contributing regularly to organizations such as Food Banks B.C., the Critter Care Wildlife Society and the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.
