Highway 1 from Mt. Lehman Road to Highway 11

This phase of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program involves improvements to 8 km of Highway 1 from Mt. Lehman Road to Highway 11. It is currently in procurement and detailed design.

These improvements include:

  • Adding HOV/EV lanes and bus-on-shoulder lanes in each direction
  • Extending the existing westbound truck climbing lane between Highway 11 and west of McCallum Road
  • Adding a multi-use path (MUP) on the south side of Highway 1 between McCallum Road and Salton Road and from King Road to the Highway 11 Interchange
  • Replacing the Peardonville Road underpass with a new structure
  • Improving active transportation connections at Peardonville Road, McCallum Road and the Highway 11 Interchange
  • Replacing the Highway 11 Interchange

Objectives

These improvements are designed to:

  • Reduce Highway 1 congestion
  • Eliminate low clearance issues for commercial vehicles on the corridor
  • Improve safety and capacity at high-traffic intersections
  • Improve access to affordable and sustainable modes of transportation, including buses, ridesharing, walking, biking, and rolling
  • Support CleanBC through HOV/EV lanes
  • Support increased use of Highway 1 transit services by improving transit travel times and reliability
  • Facilitate efficient goods movement through the corridor

Project Cost

The Province of B.C. is funding these $2.65 billion improvements.
