Repair work on Highway 11

Traffic update

Traffic pattern change as construction begins.

June-October

The four lanes of Highway 11 have been shifted slightly between Valley Road and Bateman Road.


Allow for extra travel time.

Reduces speed limit will be in effect through the area.

Obey signage and traffic-control personnel.

The project scope includes:

  • Traffic control
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Archaeological and cultural monitoring with participation by Matsqui First Nation
  • Excavation of the existing road structure
  • Removal and relocation of the existing light weight fill (EPS)
  • Ground improvements using Cutter soil-cement mixing to consolidate the soft soils
  • Placement of the permanent road structure
  • Asphalt resurfacing

Location

  • Highway 11 between Valley Road and Bateman Road

Status

Northbound repairs

  • Permanent repairs to this section of Highway 11 under construction
  • Contract Awarded to LaFarge Canada Inc
  • New lane alignment and will be in place till towards the end of the project
  • At the end of the project the temporary lanes will be shifted back to their original position and asphalt resurfacing completed
  • Minimal additional traffic changes are anticipated during construction until the final paving and lane marking at the end of the project

Southbound repairs

Completed.

Schedule

Contractor is scheduled to begin work June 2024. Anticipated completion in November 2024.
