Meet Our Students

Samantha Allan - Sam (she/her) completed her Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of Victoria (UVic), where she completed two years in the joint JD/JID program. She is an alumnus of Vancouver Island University (VIU), with a Bachelor of Business Administration major in Management, in Nanaimo where she lived for eight years before relocating to Victoria for law school. Sam is Eastern Lakes Secwépemc from Neskonlith and has English roots in North Kent. During her studies, Sam worked for UVic’s Office of the President, and she served two concurrent 1-year terms as an elected member of the university’s Board of Governors. She also gained experience in international commercial real estate during a summer term with QuadReal’s in-house legal team, based in downtown Vancouver.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys photography, hiking, crafts, recreational sports, and the occasional video game. A car enthusiast, she can often be spotted around town – sometimes accompanied by her cat Hazel, who enjoys getting out for walks. Sam values her growing relationships with, and is grateful to be hosted by, the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples of the Greater Victoria region where she works and resides.

Hamd Asif - Hamd (he/him) has recently completed his first year as a Juris Doctorate student at the University of Victoria. He joined the Small Claims Litigation group at LSB this summer as a co-op student. Hamd moved to Victoria from Surrey, where he grew up. He completed his undergraduate degree in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia, majoring in English and History. Prior to starting law school, Hamd worked at a cancer research biotech company in Vancouver, as well as a mask manufacturer during the pandemic. In his free time, Hamd likes hiking, hot yoga, trying new restaurants, and watching live shows (plays, shows, concerts). He is also an avid backpack traveler, currently brainstorming where his next destination will be at the end of summer. Wherever the destination is, he is looking forward to using his new camera to capture the memories. 

Tiffany Chang - Tiffany (she/her) received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of British Columbia. She split her undergraduate studies between Vancouver and France as part of the UBC-Sciences Po Dual Degree Program and holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees: one from UBC in International Relations and one from Sciences Po in Political Humanities. While in law school, she worked at Engineers and Geoscientists BC and UBC’s Centre for Feminist Legal Studies, volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, and completed a judicial externship with the Provincial Court of British Columbia. In her free time, Tiffany enjoys cross-stitching and trying new ice cream flavours.

Noah Garson - Noah (he/him) did his law school and his undergrad at UVic. Born and raised in Victoria, he loves living in British Columbia and is enjoying the transition to Vancouver. His undergrad was in math with a minor in economics. His passion for problem solving and puzzles was what brought him into law. He finished his law school in spring of 2026 and is so excited to start articling. He is primarily interested in litigation but keeps an open mind and looks forward to meeting many new people in all areas of government practice this year and continuing to develop his legal skills. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, chess and volunteering in search and rescue. 

Fleurie Hunter - Fleurie (she/her) is a graduate of University of Victoria’s joint degree in Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JD/JID). She is of Ukrainian and Scottish/Irish descent, grew up on Treaty 1 territory, and now lives on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Fleurie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Resource Systems from UBC, and a Master’s Degree in Social Policy and Planning from York University. Her professional background is in management and administration in the health and social sectors, and most recently she worked with the Province of B.C.’s Declaration Act Secretariat. She is a volunteer Board Member of Canadian Lawyers for Ukraine and B.C.’s Youth Climate Corps. In her free time Fleurie likes to read, experience music/art, watch films, dance, be outside (trail running, skiing, swimming), and spend time with family and friends.

Preeta Kulhari - Preeta (she/her) was born and raised in India, where she completed her B.B.A. LL.B. During law school, she actively organized legal aid camps focused on women’s rights and supporting underprivileged children. Following graduation, she gained experience in corporate legal environments and worked as a junior lawyer before immigrating to Canada in 2023.

After moving to Canada, Preeta completed the NCA accreditation process and joined the Ministry of Attorney General, initially working as a Legal Assistant in the Office of the Assistant Deputy Attorney General before beginning her articling journey with the Legal Services Branch. She is passionate about public service and hopes to continue contributing to LSB through both her legal work and lived experience.

Outside of work, Preeta enjoys exploring Canada with her husband and daughter, building meaningful connections within her community, and creating a strong sense of home and friendship in Canada.

Emmanuella Loomis - Emmanuella (she/her), originally from Edmonton, Alberta, earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Psychology from the University of Alberta. She is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at the University of Victoria and is expected to graduate in spring 2027. Emmanuella has completed two co-op terms with the Legal Services Branch and has a longstanding interest in litigation and advocacy. In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding, playing board games with friends, and exploring the beautiful West Coast outdoors.

Scott Matthews - Scott (he/him) was born and raised in Victoria, BC on the Saanich Peninsula. He obtained a BA in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, a BA and an MA in English Literature (both from the University of Victoria), and received his Juris Doctor from UVic in 2026. Prior to law school, Scott worked for the BC Public Service with the Ministry of Children and Family Development as well as the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

In his free time Scott enjoys playing soccer, cycling, reading, and he hopes to get his SCUBA certification in the near future.

Neha Tadepalli - Neha (she/her) is excited to be returning to article with LSB in Vancouver, after completing her summer articles in 2024 at the Victoria office. She was raised in the Yukon, on the traditional territories of the Taa’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Before law school, Neha studied Political Science at the University of British Columbia and completed an MA in Human Rights Studies at Columbia University, where she wrote her thesis on the policing of protest in the United States. She attended law school at the University of Alberta, where she was involved in community service, including as Chair of the Women’s Law Forum, President of Law Students for Human Rights, and as a caseworker in various legal clinics.

In her spare time, Neha enjoys anything to do with the outdoors, watching heist-based action movies, experimenting with baking projects, and reading.

Gavin Termuende - Gavin (he/him) has just completed his second year at University of Victoria Law. From Victoria, Gavin has a degree in Political Science and a minor in Applied Ethics. Gavin is interested in administrative law, constitutional law, and litigation. He completed three co-op terms with the BC Government during his undergraduate degree, working with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit and the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation.

During his free time, he enjoys surfing, golfing, and playing rugby.

Andrew Thiessen - Andrew (he/him) is a summer articling student working out of the Victoria articling office at the Legal Services Branch. He finished his second year at UVIC in April and is enjoying a break from school while experiencing legal work for the first time. Before attending law school, Andrew completed a LLM in International Human Rights Law from Queen’s University in Belfast, UK.

Outside of work, Andrew loves playing soccer, running, hiking in the woods, and hanging out with his cat!

Bora Won - Bora Won (she/her) was born and raised in Korea, where she graduated with a degree in Law, focusing on International Relations. During her studies, she worked in the public sector, advocating for human rights both nationally and internationally. After immigrating to Canada, she broadened her experience through various roles with the Ministry of Attorney General, most recently at the Legal Services Branch. Having completed the NCA accreditation process, Bora is excited to continue her journey at LSB. She looks forward to contributing to its diverse environment and commitment to public service. Outside of work, she enjoys going on adventures with her two daughters, spending time with friends, and volunteering in her community.
