We recognize that there are many different options in front of you as you begin making decisions about your legal career. The Attorney General is legal counsel for the government of British Columbia. LSB is uniquely poised to offer an unparalleled articling experience, with the opportunity to begin your legal career in government. As government's in-house full service civil law firm, LSB’s work spans a huge variety of legal practice areas and subject matters.  Our lawyers and articled students appear before every level of court in B.C. along with the Supreme Court of Canada and numerous tribunals.  As government’s counsel, we also provide a full array of traditional solicitor’s services, including complex contract and commercial work, as well as advice on the interpretation and administration of legislation, which has a significant impact on the day-to-day lives of British Columbians. We also have the privilege of drafting all laws that receive royal assent in B.C. No other employer in B.C. offers this diversity and distinction of work.

The fast-paced nature of the work that we do means that our students and junior lawyers are trusted with significant responsibility from day one. We ensure our students are fully supported to succeed, and are given opportunities to develop their legal and file-management skills.

Our robust articling program allows you to explore various areas of interest over the course of your articling term. You will gain exposure to a broad cross section of areas of law and practice styles.

We believe in hiring future colleagues. Our articling student program is designed to assist our students in becoming the best lawyers possible, during the articling year and beyond.
