Configuring your form

You have some options about how your form is displayed to citizens and what happens after they submit the form.

Form settings

You completed the form's general settings when you created your form. You can access and review the other form settings. These settings apply across your entire form.

To access the Form Settings dialogue window:

  • Click on the "gears" icon in the editor bar above the toolbox
  • Click "Form settings" in the Advanced toolbox

It's recommended that you leave most settings as "Use property" or "Use default" to help maintain a consistent experience for citizens.

Email settings

You will likely want 2 emails to go out:

  • One to the program area
  • One to the citizen

You can configure these with email settings.

To open the Email Settings dialogue window:

  • Click "Email Settings" in the Advanced toolbox

In this window, you can create as many email templates as your need, each with custom addressees, subjects, bodies and attachments. You can even specify the conditions under which a particulary email is sent.

Message settings

You may want to customize the message citizens are presented with when they submit their form successfully, or provide better information if something goes wrong.

To access the Messages dialogue window:

  • Click "Messages" in the Advanced toolbox

PDF settings

Orbeon will automatically generate a PDF of your form based on it's screen design and layout. This may be acceptable for your purposes.

Server settings

You can control a lot when it comes to your forms, but there are certain things that need to be set up on the server by Government Digital Experience (GDX).

Submit a service request if you want to do any of the following:

  • Change what buttons appear on the form, such as to hide the Submit button
  • Change the labels on buttons
  • Change the file name of PDF or XML attachments
  • Send the form data to an application through an API
  • Change the default settings or processes for an entire application (ministry)
