Participants will gain experience in all areas of forest technology, including silviculture, harvesting and forest engineering, as well as a chance to work on operational projects in northern business areas.

FTELP will support trainee technologists in achieving their RFT or RPF designation within 2 years.

The FTELP program begins each year in early June and goes for 2 years. It's situated in the BCTS field office in Mackenzie B.C.

FTELP participants will work under team leads, forest operations and training specialists and supervisors who will share their long-term experience as forest professionals. The educational structure of the program will be primarily experiential learning, combined with some coaching, mentoring and formal classroom education.

Victoria

“I have already made progress on my ABCFP thanks to the dedicated time and sponsor given to me through FTELP. It is also way more affordable to live in the north. My partner and I were able to buy a house, and enjoy all the outdoor activities in the area!”

Kyasha

“Joining FTELP was a great choice coming out of my diploma program. It is a great way to enter the workforce as you get to practice new skills while being paid, get your ABCFP designation, as well as a permanent role with BCTS. The best part about FTELP is they don’t just drop you off without any leadership, you are able to learn on the job and are truly shown all the different aspects of forestry.”
