Prince George Fire Centre prohibitions and restrictions
Last updated on October 2, 2025The Prince George Fire Centre includes north of the Interior Plateau and the Omenica Mountains to the north, sections of the Rocky Mountain Trench and Peace Liard country to the east and part of the Cariboo range to the south.

Current open fire prohibitions and restrictions
Permitted across the fire centre
Category 2 open fires remain prohibited in the Fort St. John Fire Zone, Dawson Creek Fire Zone and Fort Nelson Fire Zone (Peace Forest District and Fort Nelson Forest District)

Category 3 open fires remain prohibited in the Fort St. John Fire Zone, Dawson Creek Fire Zone and Fort Nelson Fire Zone (Peace Forest District and Fort Nelson Forest District)

BC Wildfire Service prohibitions (fire bans) and restrictions apply to all land described in the legal order. Municipalities are responsible for regulating open fire within their boundaries, so please check with your local government before lighting any fire.

Other restricted activities
As per Section 12 of the Wildfire Act, the following activities and use of equipment, materials and substances are also prohibited within the Fort St. John Fire Zone, Dawson Creek Fire Zone and Fort Nelson Fire Zone (Peace Forest District and Fort Nelson Forest District):
- Fireworks, including firecrackers
- Sky Lanterns
- Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
- Binary exploding targets
