Northwest Fire Centre prohibitions and restrictions

The Northwest Fire Centre stretches from the west coast to just west of Endako and from the Yukon border to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.

BC Wildfire Service prohibitions (fire bans) and restrictions apply to all land described in the legal order. Municipalities are responsible for regulating open fire within their boundaries, so please check with your local government before lighting any fire.

Other restricted activities

As per Section 12 of the Wildfire Actthe following activities and use of equipment, materials and substances are also prohibited within the Prohibition Area:

  • Binary exploding targets
  • Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Controlled air incinerators
  • Air curtain burners
  • Carbonizers

Current Northwest area restrictions

There are currently no Forest Use restrictions or area restrictions in effect in the Northwest Fire Centre.
