Prince George Fire Centre bans and restrictions

View all bans and restrictions for the Prince George Fire Centre, which includes the north of the Interior Plateau and the Omenica Mountains to the north, sections of the Rocky Mountain Trench and Peace Liard country to the east and part of the Cariboo range to the south.

Current Prince George fire prohibitions

Category 2 and Category 3 open fire, as defined in the Wildfire Regulation, are prohibited across the entire Prince George Fire Centre.

In addition, the Prohibition Area prohibits the following (as per the Wildfire Act, Section 12):

  • Fireworks
  • Sky Lanterns
  • Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
  • Binary exploding targets

Current Prince George area restrictions

There are no Area Restrictions in the Prince George Fire Centre.

Information bulletins

Area Restriction for vicinity of wildfire G52123 rescinded

Category 1 (campfire) ban rescinded throughout the Prince George Fire Centre Effective at 12 p.m. PDT on Thursday, August 1, 2024 until further notice. 

Category 2 and 3 open burning to be prohibited across Prince George Fire Centre Effective Thursday, March 28, 2024 until further notice.

Area Restriction in effect for Solitary Lake area

Area Restriction for Northeast wildfires rescinded Effective at 12 p.m. PDT on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
