View all bans and restrictions for the Coastal Fire Centre, which includes the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky, Vancouver Island, Central Coast and Haida Gwaii areas of B.C.

Current Coastal fire prohibitions

Category 2 and Category 3 open burning, as defined in the Wildfire Regulation, are prohibited across the entire Coastal Fire Centre.

In addition, the following is prohibited in the Prohibition Area (as per the Wildfire Act, Section 12):

  • Fireworks
  • Sky lanterns
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Air curtain burners

Current Coastal area restrictions

There are currently no forest use or area restrictions in effect. What's an area restriction?

Coastal Fire Centre rescinds campfire prohibition Effective at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 until further notice.

Coastal Fire Centre to enact a Category 2 and Category 3 open fire prohibition Effective at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 until further notice.
