Southeast Fire Centre bans and restrictions

View all bans and restrictions for the Southeast Fire Centre, located in Castlegar and extending from the U.S. border to Mica Dam and from the Okanagan Highlands/west side of the Monashee Mountains to the B.C./Alberta border.

Current Southeast fire prohibitions 

Category 2 and Category 3 open burning, as defined in the Wildfire Regulation, are prohibited across the Southeast Fire Centre, including the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and Selkirk Natural Resource District.

In addition, the Prohibition Area restricts the following (as per the Wildfire Act, Section 12):

  • Fireworks
  • Sky lanterns
  • Air curtain burners
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description

This prohibition does not apply to:

Current Southeast area restrictions 

There are no area restrictions currently in effect.
