Taking action to maintain ecosystem health and conserve biodiversity

Last updated on November 15, 2023

Increasingly, biodiversity and ecosystem health are under threat in B.C. and measures to help reverse this trend is a shared responsibility that should include:

  • All levels of government, including First Nations
  • Indigenous groups
  • Private landowners
  • Other parties

The long-term health and resilience of the province depends on the thoughtful, integrated and inclusive stewardship of the air, land, water and all living things. That's why many organizations, First Nations and entrepreneurs are working with the provincial government on conservation initiatives.

Actions taken to support and protect biodiversity must reflect our province's:

  • Cultural
  • Social
  • Geographic diversity
  • Indigenous knowledge
