Enrol for access to eTaxBC

Before you get started in eTaxBC, you must first enrol for access. You can only enrol for access to the program accounts that are already registered with the ministry.

Some eTaxBC services, such as program registration or certain online services for rural property taxes do not require enrolment.

You want to enrol as a

Enrol as a business or individual

To enrol for access to eTaxBC, you will need to know

  1. Your account type
  2. Your account information 

If you are a business, once you enrol for access to eTaxBC, you may be able to add access to and manage other accounts that are available in eTaxBC

1. Your account type

Select the account type that you would like to enrol for from the dropdown list, such as Provincial Sales Tax or Carbon Tax Collector.

If you are enrolling for a Stumpage or Family Sponsorship account, select the Non Tax Programs option.

If you are enrolling for a Rural Property Tax account, select the Property Tax – Rural option.  

2. Your account information

You need the following information to enrol:

  1. Your program account number (for example PST-####-####), except for rural property taxes

  2. One of the following:

    • Your business number (BN)

    • Your reference number (must be used for Non Tax Programs account type)

    • Your folio number

Your folio number must be used for Rural Property Tax and Mineral Land Tax account types.

Your Mineral Land Tax folio number can be found on your Notice of Mineral Land Tax Assessment or on your Statement of Account.

Your Rural Property Tax folio number can be found on your property tax notice or Statement of Account.

  1. A specific piece of information that will be requested in “Step 3: Validation” of the enrolment process to verify your identity

If you don’t have the required information, please call us toll-free at 1-877-388-4440 (option 1).

Next steps

After you enrol for access to eTaxBC, an email will be sent to you to confirm your enrolment. When you log on for the first time, a one-time use access code will be sent to the email address that you provided when you enrolled. You should receive your access code within 2 minutes, but it could take up to 30 minutes.

If you don’t receive an access code, call us toll-free at 1-877-388-4440 (option 1). Your name must be in our records before we can provide you with the access code.

Enrol as a third-party accountant or bookkeeper

As a third-party accountant or bookkeeper, you can use eTaxBC to file or pay on behalf of your clients who have eTaxBC accounts.

To get access to eTaxBC, you can:

Getting direct access

You can have direct access to your clients’ accounts by requesting your client(s) to add a logon for you in their eTaxBC account. Once the logon is created, an email will be sent to you to set up your own password and secret question. You will have a different username and password for each client.

Your client must be enrolled for access to eTaxBC before they can provide you with access to their account.

Next steps

After you set up your password and secret question, an email will be sent to you to confirm your enrolment. When you log on for the first time, a one-time use access code will be sent to the email address that was provided when the logon was created. The access code should be received within 2 minutes, but it could take up to 30 minutes.

If you do not receive an access code, call us toll-free at 1-877-388-4440 (option 1). Your name must be in our records before we can provide you with the access code.

Enrolling for access to a third-party account

Enrolling for a third-party eTaxBC account allows you to manage all of your clients' eTaxBC accounts using one username and password. You are able to request access through eTaxBC to your clients’ account to file or pay on their behalf once you have enrolled. This is recommended if you have many clients to manage.

You will need to know your business number to enrol for access to eTaxBC.

After we process your enrolment request, we will send you an email to confirm your enrolment.

Note: It may take up to 21 days to process your enrolment request.
