A Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID) is required to access hunting and freshwater fishing services in B.C.
You need an FWID to apply for or submit:
Your FWID is a permanent number linked to your personal online profile in the WILD system. You must carry photo ID and be able to produce your FWID number while hunting and freshwater fishing in B.C. Conservation Officers can ask you to provide photo ID and your FWID number, so they can find and view your profile and verify your licences and authorizations on their mobile devices.
Your legal name must appear on your profile. Nicknames are not acceptable. You can update your personal information at any time, but name changes require supporting documentation.
There is no cost to get an FWID.
You may need to add residency or hunting credentials to your FWID profile to access some hunting and trapping services.
To get an FWID, log in to WILD. Or visit a FrontCounter BC location, Service BC location or participating vendor location.
If you already have an FWID, previously had a B.C. Resident Hunter Number, or have hunted as a non-resident in B.C. since 2018, you do not need to create a new FWID. If you had a B.C. Resident Hunter Number, your FWID was created for you and is the same number with three extra digits.
Angler Numbers from the BC Freshwater Fishing E-Licensing System retire after March 31, 2026.
If you don’t already have an FWID, you’ll need to register for one. Angler Numbers will not be converted to FWIDs.
Log in to WILD to create your FWID.
If you’ve forgotten your FWID, or are unsure if you have one, use the 'Find my FWID' option in WILD. If your cell phone number or email address is saved on your FWID profile, your FWID will be sent to you by text or email.
Log in to WILD to find your FWID.
First Nations hunters need an FWID if they wish to apply for limited entry hunting.
