Alternatively, users can log in to WILD with their BC Services Card Account to automatically prove their identity, receive a B.C. resident credential (if eligible), or change their legal name on their profile without uploading documents.

Proof of identity documents
To prove your identity in WILD, submit one of the documents listed below. If you log in to WILD with your BC Services Card Account, identity will be verified automatically.
I am 16 years of age or older
Your identification document must include a photo:
- BC Driver’s Licence
- BC Driver's Licence and Services Card (combination card)
- Photo BC Services Card
- BC identification card (BCID)
- Driver’s licence issued by a Canadian or international jurisdiction
- Passport
- Permanent resident card
- Canadian citizenship card
- Student ID containing full legal name
- Employee ID containing full legal name
- Identification card issued by the government of a province or territory of Canada, or the government of an international jurisdiction
- Possession and acquisition licence (PAL)
- Status card (Certificate of Indian Status and Secured Certificate of Indian Status)
- Nexus card
I am under 16 years of age
You may submit any of the photo identification documents listed for 16 years of age or older, or:
- Non-photo BC Services Card
- Student ID containing full legal name
- Birth certificate
- Canadian citizenship certificate (issued after February 2012)
B.C. resident documents
To prove you are a B.C. resident under the Wildlife Act, submit one of the documents listed below.
Apply for a B.C. resident credential
Individuals under 18 years of age can use documentation from a parent or legal guardian to prove B.C. residency. If you log in to WILD with your BC Services Card Account, you will automatically receive a B.C. resident credential if you are eligible.
The document you submit must have an issue date at least 6 months prior to your application date:
- BCID
- BC Services Card
- BC Driver’s Licence and Services Card (combination card)
First Nations individuals
You may submit either:
- Any of the documents listed above as long as they are valid, but they do not need to be issued 6 months prior
- A letter, issued within the 31 days prior to applying, from a Band Office or First Nation Government stating you reside in B.C.
I only have a B.C. resident document issued within the last 6 months
If the issue date of one of the above documents is within the 6 months preceding the date of the application, you must also provide one of the following documents with an issue date at least 6 months prior to the date of the application:
- ICBC vehicle insurance (you can be listed as a driver)
- Letter from a school confirming attendance in person*
- Legal tenancy agreement*
*These documents must contain contact information for a reference check.
Renew a B.C. resident credential
You must renew your B.C. resident credential every 3 years. Individuals under 18 years of age can use documentation from a parent or legal guardian to prove B.C. residency. If you log in to WILD with your BC Services Card Account, your B.C. resident credential will be automatically renewed if eligible.
You may submit:
- BC Driver’s Licence
- BCID
- BC Services Card
- BC Driver’s Licence and Services Card (combination card)
- Paper interim BC Driver’s Licence - must indicate ‘Renewal’
- Paper interim BCID – must indicate ‘Renewal’ and the date of issue must be no more than 60 days prior to your credential renewal application date
Residency exemption documents
If you qualify for a residency exemption, you may submit either:
- Military ID and posting documentation
- Certificate, diploma, degree or a letter from a school confirming completion of a program within 4 months prior to your application date
Non-resident documents
To prove you are a non-resident under the Wildlife Act, submit one of the documents listed below:
- Canadian birth certificate
- Canadian passport
- Canadian citizenship certificate (issued after February 2012) or Canadian citizenship card
- Permanent resident card
- Confirmation of Permanent Residence or Record of Landing
- Driver’s licence, photo ID or health card issued by the government of a province or territory of Canada with an issue date at least 12 months prior to your application date
Non-resident alien
You do not need to provide supporting documentation to be granted a non-resident alien credential. Your proof of identity document can be used when applying for this credential.
Hunter safety training documents
To prove you have the required hunter safety training, submit one of the documents listed below:
- Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) certificate
- Confirmation letter from the B.C. Wildlife Federation or the Wildlife and Ecosystems Branch
- Document issued by a territory or province of Canada, other than B.C., or an international jurisdiction demonstrating successful completion of a hunter safety training
Note: Proof of hunter safety training completion documents issued in a language other than English or French must be submitted along with a notarized translated version of the document.
First Nations hunters licence exemption documents
To prove you qualify for the Licence Exemption WA S.11(9), submit one of the documents listed below:
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status (valid or expired)
- A letter from the Band Office or First Nation Government on a letterhead stating that the applicant is registered under the Indian Act (Canada)
- Temporary Confirmation of Registration Document
Name change request documents
To complete a legal name change in WILD, submit either two of the following documents (one with the current name in the FWID profile and one with the new name). If you log in to WILD with your BC Services Card Account, your name will automatically update in your FWID profile.
- Driver’s Licence
- BCID
- Birth certificate
- BC Services Card
- Passport
- Citizenship card
- Permanent residency card
- Photo ID card issued by the government of a province or territory of Canada, or the government of an international jurisdiction. Includes a possession and acquisition licence (PAL).
Or, one of the following documents (both names must be listed):
- Marriage certificate
- Divorce certificate
- Legal name change certificate
- A letter from a notary public
