- 1849-1886: Gaols during the colonial era
- 1912-1991: Oakalla (Lower Mainland Regional Correctional Centre)
- 1912: First gaol in Prince George
- 1913: Saanich Prison Farm (later known as Wilkinson Road Gaol and Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre)
- 1926: Prince George Gaol moved to new location
- 1937: New Haven opens for young adults
- 1950: Creation of the Corrections Branch in B.C.
- 1957-1975: Haney Correctional Institution
- 1957: Last hanging in B.C.
- 1983: Inmate disturbance at Prince George Regional Correctional Centre
- 1991: Oakalla (Lower Mainland Regional Correctional Centre) closes
- 1990s: Four regional correctional centres built
- 2001: North Fraser Pretrial Centre Opens
- 2002: Closure of facilities
- 2004: Allouette Correctional Centre for Women
- 2010: Prince George Regional Correctional Centre expanded
- 2012: Allouette Correctional Centre for Women expanded
