When someone is sentenced after being convicted of a crime, they become the responsibility of either a provincial or federal government corrections agency. These agencies are responsible for working with individuals to try to help them change their behaviour and reduce reoffending. They also help keep British Columbians safe by managing adults who are in custody or under community supervision.
