The Minister’s Advisory Council for Children and Youth with Support Needs

Last updated on October 19, 2023

The Minister’s Advisory Council for Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN MAC) will ensure a new system supports a broad range of families throughout the province. Council members will make suggestions to inform the implementation of the system and government will have an opportunity to learn directly from families about how services impact them.

The council aims to represent all families, children and youth who receive services, and includes people with varied needs and abilities. Members are from diverse ethnicities and areas of the province, and include an Indigenous Elder, a youth representative, representatives from a variety of sector organizations and parents/caregivers of children and youth receiving CYSN services, with no more than two members representing the same diagnosis.

The Minister’s Advisory Council provides a forum to:

  • Build collaborative and respectful relationships through ongoing communications and engagement
  • Discuss important issues related to planning and the delivery of the full range of CYSN services, and
  • Support the ministry’s work to improve the system for children and youth with support needs in B.C., while ensuring that families are at the centre of those changes.
