This web page has information for the public about coverage of ostomy supplies.
PharmaCare covers ostomy supplies for people who require the application of an external pouch due to the presence of an enterocutaneous fistula or a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy after having undergone surgery on the bowel and/or bladder.
PharmaCare covers most ostomy supplies up to the regular retail price but does not cover a dispensing fee. The actual amount PharmaCare reimburses under Fair PharmaCare depends on whether you have met your deductible or family maximum.

Ostomy supplies are covered under these PharmaCare plans. All B.C. residents are encouraged to register for Fair PharmaCare, even if they have coverage under other plans.
Plan W (First Nations Health Benefits)
Certain ostomy supplies not covered by PharmaCare may be covered under Non-Insured Health Benefits
STEP 1 - Register for the Fair PharmaCare Plan. Coverage depends on income: the less you earn, the more help you get. You'll need tax information from 2 years ago, Social Insurance Number(s) and Personal Health Number(s).
STEP 2 - Return the consent form that will arrive in the mail. This allows PharmaCare to check your income with the CRA. This step is necessary to complete your registration.
