Soo Jerky’s story starts in Richmond in 1985. Founders Philip and Soo Wong grew up in Malaysia, where they came to love Singaporean-styled jerky, despite only being able to afford this festive delicacy as an occasional treat. After immigrating to Canada, the duo began making these delicacies in their home and selling them in Vancouver’s Chinatown, with their first major debut coming at the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver. Since then, Soo Jerky has grown into a well-loved brand in Canada and internationally, offering a line of over 40 different meat snack.
