Safer roads in British Columbia

The Road Safety Unit (RSU) coordinates the Enhanced Traffic Enforcement Program (ETEP). This program brings together RoadSafetyBC, the Policing and Security Branch, ICBC, BC Highway Patrol, and the BC Association of Municipal Chiefs of Police in a unique partnership. Together, they support dedicated traffic enforcement initiatives across the province by:

  • Providing integrated policing units
  • Supporting specialized police training and technology
  • Focusing on high-risk driving behaviours leading to casualty crashes.

For over 20 years, ETEP has helped reduce casualty collisions caused by:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Impaired driving
  • Intersection violations
  • Seatbelt violations
