Nicomen River Bridge is located 19 km south of Spences Bridge.

Overview of the project

  • Replace damaged Highway 1 Nicomen River Bridge
  • Armor embankment
  • Rehabilitate pavement on bridge approaches

Status

  • Bridge deck work
  • Channel resiliency improvements complete
  • Grade lowering activities ongoing as of September 2024
  • Anticipated construction completion Summer 2025

Traffic impacts

  • Reduced speed limits
  • Single lane alternating traffic in effect until November 2024
  • Anticipated delays: 15 minutes
  • Traffic will start using the new bridge in late September, with the full two lane opening anticipated in mid-October 2024
