Overview of the project

  • Replace damaged Highway 1 Nicomen River Bridge
  • Armor embankment
  • Rehabilitate pavement on bridge approaches

Status

  • Emergency works completed January 14, 2022
  • Site mobilization occurred September 5, 2023 with Early Works commencing
  • Construction activities include site preparation, installation of single lane temporary bridge, removal of existing damaged bridge structure, construction of new two-laned bridge, vertical clearance increase through the adjacent railway crossing, embankment work, and utility relocation

Traffic impacts

  • Reduced speed limits
  • Single lane alternating traffic in effect from January 7, 2024 to November 2024
  • Anticipated delays: 20 minutes
