Families can get help from Family Justice Centres and Justice Access Centres even if they are not going to court. However, Family Justice Centres and Justice Access Centres also help with the Provincial Court process.
All Provincial Court registries in the Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver Fraser, Vancouver Island, and Interior (including Okanagan and Kootenay) regions are designated Early Resolution Registries. Other locations may be designated in the future.
At Early Resolution Registries, there are Early Resolution Requirements for families who want to resolve a family law matter in Provincial Court.
See the list of Early Resolution Registries, filing locations and Family Justice Services Division (FJSD) offices for more information about:
Provincial Family Court registries that are not Early Resolution Registries are Parenting Education Registries (requiring the completion of a Parenting After Separation course for most parties with family law matters).
Effective May 1, 2026, the only Parenting Education Registries are the Northern Provincial Family Court locations.
