About the initiative

B.C. started the Chronic Property Offending Intervention Initiative (C-POII) pilot in 2025. It builds on an earlier program called the Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative (ReVOII).

C-POII focuses on people who commit repeat property crimes and public disorder that affects businesses and communities.

Expanding the approach

C-POII teams will work with ReVOII. Together, they will supervise up to 865 people across B.C. The teams will share information to improve monitoring, enforcement, and release planning.

They’ll also support people with complex needs by helping them get social supports, mental health and addiction treatment to stop reoffending.

Supporting community safety efforts

C-POII is supported by the Community Safety and Targeted Enforcement Program (C-STEP).

C-STEP helps police respond to repeat crimes such as robbery, shoplifting, theft, and property damage to reduce the impact of these crimes on public safety, community well-being, and the economy.

Working together to reduce reoffending

These programs work together to improve coordination, strengthen partnerships, and provide better oversight.

They help people who want to make positive changes by connecting them with the right supports. They also ensure timely enforcement for those who continue to pose a risk to public safety.
