Request court appearance with videoconference or Teams

Appearances via videoconference or Teams are available in most courthouse locations with approval from the court, which can be sought by counsel.

Information about COVID-19: Expansion of Court Operations - Remote Videoconference Hearings (COVID-19 Notice No. 35). All COVID-19 Notices and Announcements can be found on the Courts of British Columbia website, some of which describe procedures for other Teams appearances such as Chambers Applications (COVID-19 Notice No. 42).

Complete Court Videoconference Request form (ADM509)

In all cases, counsel must complete form ADM509 at least five business days prior to the proposed videoconference date. If the hearing is scheduled to take place outside the registry's regular hours counsel must complete form ADM509 at least 15 business days prior to the proposed videoconferencing date.

Counsel should submit the form to the relevant court registry, in person or by email (where possible).

Counsel requesting a remote appearance is responsible for booking private sites, notifying the other parties and will exchange all relevant documents with the remote location(s).

Instructions for appearance via videoconference or Teams

Follow instructions below after approval is secured for a BC Supreme Court hearing.

Counsel complete the Court Videoconference Request Form (ADM 509) and submits it to the relevant court registry, court registry staff will notify Counsel once the equipment has been reserved. Videoconference equipment availability cannot be guaranteed. 


Complete the Remote Video Request Form and submits it to the appropriate court registry.

For information on the minimum technical standards for a hearing using Teams and whether a matter is appropriate for a remote hearing, parties must read the COVID-19 Notice No. 35

Complete the Court Videoconference Request Form (ADM 509)

The applicant will receive confirmation that the equipment has been booked from the registry. The applicant is required to send a copy of ADM 509 to CDT ( who create the MS-Teams link for the matter

CDT will email the applicant the link for the matter, inform them of court protocol and convey that the applicant is responsible for forwarding the link to other parties in the matter

Upon processing these requests, the Court Registry will notify counsel once the equipment has been reserved. VC equipment availability cannot be guaranteed.  

COVID-19 Notice No. 35 does not specifically apply to hearings using a bridge, the portions of that notice relating to minimum technical standards of equipment and internet speed should be considered when using any web based application, including Teams.
