To support the agriculture and seafood industry and consumers, government collects and produces statistical information on industry performance, market and trade analyses, sector and regional profiles.

Census of Agriculture

Statistics Canada releases a Census of Agriculture including physical, economic, social and environmental characteristics of the agriculture of Canada every five years. The most recent publication is from 2021.

Reporting requirements

All producers of B.C. seafood must submit reports on their operations to the Ministry of Agriculture under the Fish and Seafood Act. These reports supply statistical data on the socioeconomic performance of the industry.
