2023 Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative

Last updated on February 1, 2024

B.C.’s producers now have access to additional help in recovering from the extraordinary expenses incurred as a result of drought and wildfire in 2023.

The 2023 Canada – British Columbia Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative was designed to help offset extraordinary expenses for:

  • livestock feed as a result of decreased pasture availability;
  • ensuring animal health, safety and welfare;
  • fire clean-up;
  • transportation, mustering and livestock mortality;
  • replacing apiaries, bee colonies and beekeeping equipment;
  • repair or replacement of critical infrastructure not covered by insurance

The 2023 Canada - British Columbia Wildfire and Drought Recovery Initiative is cost-shared between the federal and provincial governments on a 60-40 percent ratio.  AgriRecovery is not intended to compensate for production or farm income losses covered under Agricultural Business Risk Management programs including AgriStability or Production Insurance. Please call 1 888 332 3352 to talk to us about these existing programs.
