
A portion of Autism Funding can be used to request equipment and supplies required to support a child or youth with autism.
Requests must not exceed 50% of a child/youth’s annual funding amount (for families with benefit plans that are 12 months or less), or 50% on the adjusted portion (for families with benefit plans that are 13 months or longer, with the first 12 months being available at 20%).
For families with youth aging out (turning 19) prior to March 31, 2027, requests must not exceed 20%.
Agreement Signatories: please ensure your JFE form is approved by Autism Funding prior to making purchases.
Families are encouraged to check their TTE balance on MyFamily Services (MyFS) or call Autism Funding to confirm their balance (Toll Free: 1 877 777-3530).
Step 1: Talk with your service provider
Talk about your equipment needs with your service provider. They know what's best for your child and their plan for therapy.
If you don’t have a service provider, work with your school therapist or a paediatrician. You can also contact Autism Information Services for help: AutismInformation@gov.bc.ca | Toll free: 1 844 878-4700.
Step 2: Complete the Justification for Equipment and Supplies Form

Step 3: Get approval
Submit your completed form for approval.
The fastest way to submit the form is through My Family Services. You can also send the form by email, mail or fax. This option can take up to 30 business days.
The Autism Funding team will review your child's equipment needs and therapy goals on the form. Do not purchase items until you receive approval.

Some items that are on this list may be approved if they will support your child's development goals. Talk to your service provider about how to explain why these items are needed.
These items are commonly used to support children and youth with their functional goals, and no longer require a JFE submission for preapproval. The parent (Agreement Signatory) must submit receipts and complete the Reimbursement Form (CF0926) to Autism Funding for reimbursement. Receipts must contain sufficient detail for Autism Funding adjudicators to verify the item.
These items help support communication, literacy, and learning at home.
These items help children manage sensory needs, stay regulated, and participate in daily activities.
These items support creativity, problem‑solving, motor skills, and social play.
These items help children build routines, independence, and organization skills.

Step 4: Buy items
It's best to keep material and equipment purchases separate from household items. This makes it easier to process receipts and you will receive reimbursement faster.
Step 5: Get reimbursed
Within six months of purchase, complete the Reimbursement of Autism Expenses Form (PDF) and attach a copy of your receipt.

The Autism Funding team will compare your approved JFE form on file with the items you purchased.
If you have a concern about the service provided by the Autism Funding team, or about an autism funding decision, contact the Autism Funding team at 1 877 777-3530. If your complaint is not resolved, request to speak with an Autism Funding supervisor.
