Appropriate Use Policy
All employees of the Government of British Columbia are required to read and follow the Appropriate Use Policy 2.0 (PDF), which establishes high-level requirements for accessing and managing government information and using information technology resources.
What’s New in AUP 2.0?
- Definition of “workplace” broadened to allow for greater flexibility
- Replaces the Working Outside the Workplace Policy and Home Technology Assessment (note that teleworking agreements are still required)
- More focus on digital information and technology, and requirements regarding applications and software
- Aligns with the Digital Principles for the Government of British Columbia, the Information Management Act, and the Managing Government Information Policy
The Application and Software Guide (PDF) provides employees with tips and tools for downloading applications and software to government-owned devices.
