The training initiative supplement is available under the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Regulation.

Policy

Eligibility

Effective: December 1, 2003

A training initiative supplement (TIS) of the amount shown in Rate Table: General Supplements may be provided to recipients with the person with disabilities designation and their dependants to cover expenses related to a volunteer work experience.  The TIS was formerly called the Training Initiative Benefit (TIB) and Employment Initiatives for the Handicapped Program (EIHP).

Participation is limited to six months after the date that the regulation repealing the TIS is brought into force, or the date previously set as the end date for participation in the TIS, whichever occurs first.

No further extensions after the date the TIS regulation is repealed are permitted for recipients of the TIS.
