Contract Amount: $26.8 million

Dawson Civil Limited consistently demonstrated efficiency throughout the project, meeting both schedule and budget expectations. They optimized on-site materials effectively to deliver the project and, despite changes to the scope of work, maintained a high-quality outcome within the original budget.

Moreover, Dawson Civil Limited excelled in adhering to the First Nations Opportunities plan, surpassing targets, and continuing to utilize First Nations resources. Their cooperative working skills were clear as they creatively and skillfully found fair solutions to potential project-impacting issues. The commitment of their senior management to delivering a quality product was clear in their work.

Additionally, Dawson Civil Limited prioritized worker and driver safety, consistently working to minimize impacts. They set a commendable example of environmental stewardship by conforming to environmental assessments and proactively collaborating with relevant ministries to address concerns.

Location: Highway 29 connects Hudson’s Hope to Fort St. John 
Contractor: Thompson Brothers Construction LP 
Contract Amount: $65.9 million 

Amidst challenging circumstances of the Highway Lynx Creek Bridge Replacement and Highway Re-alignment Project, Thompson Brothers Construction extended a stability berm, provided embankment wave protection, and adapted final grading to accommodate changing regulatory requirements. Their flexibility and unwavering dedication to excellence set them apart in the world of road grading.

The Lynx Creek realignment project, addressing flooding from the reservoir, included a large highway embankment fill, a 150-metre bridge, and a 280-metre causeway crossing Lynx Creek, spanning an 8 km section of the works, with moving of over 2,000,000 cubic meters of material, approximately 100,000 cubic meters of Rip Rap Placement.

Thompson Brothers Construction showed effective project management skills by adjusting timelines when new work was added to the contract and when unforeseen delays, such as wildfire evacuations, were presented. Their adaptability and problem-solving abilities were truly commendable. Thompson Brothers Construction also prioritized the concerns of local stakeholders. They preserved access to a boat launch for as long as possible during construction, demonstrating respect for the community they served.
