Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated

Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated: Old Skeena Bridge Rehabilitation

Old Skeena Bridge Rehabilitation

Location: Just north of the Highway 16 and Highway 37 intersection near Terrace
Contractor: Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated
Contract Amount: $26 million

Originally opened to the public in 1925, the Old Skeena Bridge stands as a symbol of the region's rich heritage and scenic beauty. Its rejuvenation was no small feat, as the true scope of work only revealed itself once our skilled contractors arrived on site.

Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated, amidst ongoing construction, faced a significant increase in the project's scope, a daunting challenge. Yet, they persevered, delivering both the original and added scope of work four months ahead of schedule.

This early completion allowed the bridge to serve the community during peak summer traffic, minimizing disruption. The contractor went above and beyond by adding a second shift, seamlessly incorporating the added work, and maintaining an open line of communication with the Ministry Representative and Engineer of Record.

The Old Skeena Bridge Rehabilitation project exceeded expectations, ensuring the historical significance of the bridge was preserved. The City of Terrace, First Nations stakeholders, and the public all had their expectations met, proving that a strong partnership can yield incredible results.

But the project's success wasn't just about meeting deadlines and delivering exceptional quality; it was also about embracing environmental stewardship. Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated worked tirelessly to protect the surrounding natural habitat and ensured that the bridge maintained its status as a vital link in an environmentally sensitive, fish-bearing river used by First Nations for traditional activities.

Ultimately, this extraordinary effort, dedication, and outstanding partnership between Gitga'at Park Derochie Industrial Services Incorporated, First Nations, and the community made the Old Skeena Bridge rehabilitation a remarkable success. A bridge to the past, present, and future.

Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Limited

Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Limited: Yale Creek Bridge and Approaches

Yale Creek Bridge and Approaches

Location: Highway 1 in Yale
Contractor: Coquitlam Ridge Constructors
Limited
Contract Amount: $5.3 million

The Yale Creek Bridge and Approaches project presented challenges due to its dependency on the Fishery Timing Window to complete instream works. Despite this complexity, Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Limited (CRC) demonstrated exemplary commitment by diligently adjusting and working around the issue.  This dedication ensured the successful delivery of a high-quality project, meeting both the deadline and budget constraints.

Additionally, in November 2021, the Ministry tasked Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Limited with the design, construction, and maintenance of the temporary Acrow Bridge at Jackass Mountain in response to the 2021 Atmospheric River flood events. Despite construction activities halting at Yale Creek from December to late February and a significant portion of resources being redirected to Jackass Mountain, CRC maintained an unwavering focus on the Yale Creek assignment. They resumed work at Yale Creek in the Spring of 2022 to advance the remaining tasks.

CRC expedited the submittal review process by developing high-quality submissions, facilitating a swift and seamless experience for the Ministry Representative and Engineers of Record. Ensuring excellence in workmanship, CRC implemented rigorous Contractor Quality Analysis checks to uphold high standards not only in their own work but also in subcontractor contributions. The company maintained transparency on all matters, readily available to discuss and address issues promptly, showcasing a commitment to utmost professionalism.
