MyEducation BC support staff

Service Management Council and Level 1 support staff

Each district has a designated Service Management Council (SMC) representative and a Level 1 (L1) support staff member. The L1 support staff member serves as the primary contact for supporting school and district users, managing access, and coordinating training and troubleshooting.

To find out who holds these roles in your district, please contact your district office.

B.C. independent and independent First Nation schools

Independent and independent First Nation schools in B.C. that use MyEd BC are supported by BC Support Online, which serves as both the SMC representative and L1 support staff for these schools.

Training and support resources

MyEducation BC info site

The MyEducationBC.Info site provides training resources tailored to various roles in the education system, including teachers, inclusive education staff, and teacher-counsellors. These resources are regularly updated to reflect new features and enhancements in MyEd BC, helping educators stay informed and confident in using the system.

MyEducation BC standards manual

The MyEducation BC Standards Manual outlines the standards and procedures for managing student data within the system. It was developed to help districts protect student information, ensure alignment with ministry policy and legislation, and support consistent practices across school districts and independent schools. The manual also identifies where local decision-making is required, enabling flexibility while maintaining provincial consistency.

Teacher support resources

The provincial MyEducation BC Teacher Working Group has developed a series of tip sheets focused on the features most commonly used by teachers. These include:

Locally developed resources

Every school and district in B.C. is unique, and MyEd BC offers flexible functionality to meet diverse needs. As a result, many districts and schools create their own localized training materials. To find out what’s available in your area, contact your SMC or L1 representative.

B.C. independent and independent First Nation schools

B.C. independent and independent First Nation schools using MyEd BC are supported by BC Support Online. This platform provides access to guides, videos, training sessions, and one-on-one support to help schools make the most of the system.

Submit a change request for MyEducation BC

If you have an idea to improve MyEd BC, you can submit a change request through your district’s SMC representative or L1 support staff. They will determine whether the change can be implemented locally or if it requires a formal provincial-level change request.

If a formal request is needed, your SMC representative or L1 support staff will complete the official change request form and submit it to the ministry via the MyEd BC inbox at myedbc@gov.bc.ca. Only requests submitted or approved by an SMC representative will be accepted.

Once submitted, the request is reviewed by the MyEd BC governance structure and its subcommittees to determine its feasibility, priority, and eligibility as a provincial enhancement.

For more information or to access the latest version of the change request form, please contact your SMC representative or L1 support staff.
