Policy statement
All certificate holders in B.C. must meet and maintain a defined standards for professional conduct and competence, and will be held accountable if those standards are not upheld.
Rationale or purpose of policy
The public entrusts its children to members of the teaching profession, who must follow provincial standards for professional conduct and competence. These standards support the public’s confidence in the teaching profession and the school system and help protect students from educators who abuse their positions of trust and authority.
