Consent Resolution Agreement

A consent resolution agreement is one way to resolve a discipline matter. Consent resolution is when the Commissioner and the teacher agree on appropriate consequences. It is also a way to avoid a public hearing. The agreement process is voluntary.

Who can propose a consent resolution agreement?

There are two people who can propose an agreement:

  • The Commissioner for Teacher Regulation
  • The teacher involved in the discipline matter

What is a consent resolution agreement?

A consent resolution agreement is a written document. The document includes:

  • The facts that the Commissioner and the teacher agree to  
  • The teacher stating that their behavoiur, set out in the facts, was a breach of the professional standards
  • The consequences for the teacher  

What are the possible outcomes of a consent resolution agreement?

A teacher who has breached the professional standards may:

  • Be reprimanded
  • Have limits or conditions placed on their teaching certificate
  • Have their teaching certificate suspended or cancelled
