Market adjustments (MAs) or recruitment and retention adjustments (RRAs) are used as a solution to attract employees to occupations with skill shortages.

If the labour shortage recedes, the Employer may take steps to return positions back to their regular pay structure. Except in cases of temporary appointments and substitution pay, an eligible regular employee in receipt of a MA will continue to receive the MA should it be discontinued.
