Criteria
Equipment used to perform the work described in this RFx should be zero or low emission and energy efficient (preferably EPEAT rated or Energy Star qualified when applicable), and should be used in an energy efficient manner, including, but not limited to:
- Manual equipment where feasible and cost effective
- Renewable energy
- Programmable power down
- Shut off/unplug when not in use
Equipment used to perform the work described in this RFx should also offer options for waste and emissions reduction that include repairability, lifetime extensions, and resource recovery. This may include but is not limited to:
- Offer recyclable content or reuseable packaging that minimizes waste
- Take action to consolidate orders or minimize transport emissions
Provide inventory numbers for replacement parts when available. Offer services that include warranties, reparability, lifetime extensions, takeback programs, and/or resource recovery.
Sample RFx questions
- Describe primary equipment proposed to do the work, including any energy efficiency or environmental certifications (e.g. Energy Star, EPEAT) for each.
- Describe any proposed processes that will reduce energy consumption, material use, and emissions in the use of the equipment.
- State the amount of recycled content used in the components.
- Describe proposed services offered for the lifespan of the equipment that include repairability, lifetime extensions, and recyclability at end-of-life.
