Program Details

The Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) is an annual grant funding program administered by the Ministry of Jobs and Economic Growth (JEG). REDIP supports rural communities throughout British Columbia to develop economic opportunities with a particular focus on three key areas:

  • Economic diversification
  • Economic capacity building
  • Economic infrastructure development

In fiscal year (FY) 2025-26 the REDIP program is focused on strategic investments to support the most critical economic development opportunities in rural communities. The program team strongly recommends that all prospective applicants meet with program staff or a member of the Regional Economic Operations Branch to discuss their project prior to submitting an application.

For full program details, including funding categories, eligibility, project types and timelines, please refer to the REDIP Program Guide (PDF, 2.6MB)

Who Can Apply

Eligibility Requirements:

For the 2025/26 intake, eligibility for REDIP will be guided by a new tool—the B.C. Rural Definition Matrix. This matrix classifies communities into six categories: three rural and three urban, based on population size and remoteness scores from Statistics Canada.

Communities who are classified as Rural 1 and 2 are eligible for Capacity, Implementation and Development. Communities classified as Rural 3 will be eligible for Implementation and Development only. To find out how your community is classified please review the Eligibility Matrix. To learn more about the matrix please review the REDIP Program Guide

Please note: Indigenous communities are currently not included in the matrix in recognition of First Nations data sovereignty, the lack of available and accurate data, and the commitment to the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. All Indigenous communities in BC are therefore eligible for all REDIP funding streams.

Key Dates

The 2025-26 REDIP intake opens on July 24, 2025. Applications will be accepted online until October 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM PST.

Funding decisions for the 2025-26 intake will be announced in Spring 2026.
