Construction is underway on the 232nd Street Interchange and HOV Widening Project.

Project highlights

  • Reconfiguring the current Cloverleaf interchange design into a Partial Cloverleaf design
  • Decommissioning the northwest and southeast loop ramps to address short-weaving and merging issues
  • Decommissioning the Highway 1 eastbound off-ramp to 232nd Street southbound
  • Adding traffic signals to the 232nd Street and 72nd Avenue intersection for a safer and more efficient connection to Highway 1
  • Increasing the capacity and efficiency of the 232nd Street roundabout
  • Replacing the existing underpass structure with a new structure with an increased height of 5.2 metres
  • Building a new local access road for municipal traffic off 70A Avenue, to separate it from eastbound on-ramp traffic

Status

The 232nd street interchange is under construction. Anticipated completion 2028.

Cost

The contract value for the 232nd Street Interchange and HOV Widening Project is $140 million.

The contract was awarded to Hall Jacob JV.
